Home and community housing visits
I’ll come to you! This includes clients within the Windsor-Essex area
How Do I start?
Step One: Email me at catherinehois@gmail.com to book your free consultation. The consultation can be done in person, or on video.
Step Two: Consultation.
The purpose of a consultation is:
– So that I can meet the client, get to know their interests, level of ability, and goals.
– I will take notes on their needs so I can be as supportive as possible.
– I can look at the space we have to create art in to determine what projects are appropriate.
– We can determine how often you would like me to come (weekly, bi-weekly, once a month etc.).
What does a private art class look like?
Based on our consultation, I will create a lesson plan with learning objectives. The lesson plan is tailored to each individual client, and can be highly structured, or not as structured depending on their needs.
I will bring in the lesson plan, along with an “art kit” that is yours to keep. The art kit will include all materials that we will be using for the specific project. For example, if we were doing a collage I would bring an art kit filled with colourful paper, magazine pages, textured paper, different kinds of lace and string. Depending on the clients ability, I can pre-cut pages and string. Certain items such as scissors, adhesives, and paint brushes will also be provided, but not included in art kits.
We begin the class with a 15 minute set up and introduction, (take a look at the example piece, talk about learning objectives), one hour of creating, and 15 minute framing and clean-up.
At the end of a project, it’s important to give yourself a pat on the back and frame your art for everyone to see! I will provide paper frames for each project. If we finish our art, we can frame it and display, or you can keep the frame to use when your work is complete/has dried.
